How to choose an elastic coupling

1. Determine the basic type of coupling
Encoders generally use parallel couplings and threaded couplings, and stepper motors and servo motors generally use diaphragm couplings, plum couplings, slider couplings and bellows couplings.
2. Determine the torque of the coupling
(1) When the power (kw) of the motor is known, but the torque of the motor is unknown, the torque of the motor can be calculated according to the following formula:
   Motor torque T (Nm) = motor power (kw) × 9550÷ motor speed (rpm)
(2) After calculating the transmission torque T of the motor, combined with the positive coefficient table of the working conditions, check the load condition coefficient K 1, the running time coefficient K 2, and the start and stop frequency coefficient K 3 to determine the correction coefficient k.
(3) After calculating the motor torque and determining the working condition coefficients in the working condition coefficient table, the selected coupling torque at this time can be calculated by the following formula:
T≥T1× K 1× K 2 × K 3
3. Determine the outer diameter, inner hole and length of the coupling
