Function: When the shaft and the shaft are to be connected to transmit power, a belt pulley or gear is generally used for the connection, but if the two shafts are required to be in a straight line and require constant speed rotation, a coupling must be used to connect. However, due to increased accuracy, thermal expansion of the shaft, or bending of the shaft during operation, the concentricity between the two shafts will change. Therefore, the flexible coupling can be used as a bridge to maintain the power transmission between the two shafts and absorb the two shafts. The radial, angular and axial deviations between the shafts extend the life of the machine and improve the quality of the machine.
Type: Couplings can generally be divided into two categories: rigid and flexible.

Description of common terms used in couplings
1. Parallel deviation: when the two shafts are connected, the deviation between the two shafts in the radial direction.
2. Angle deviation: when the two shafts are connected, the deviation angle of the two shafts.
3. Axial deviation: when the two shafts are connected, the displacement of the two shafts in the axial direction.
4. Torque: When a force drives a shaft to rotate, the gravitational force multiplied by the shaft radius is the torque (force*arm).
5. Torsional rigidity: When an object is subjected to torsion, it will actually be twisted and deformed on its circumference, and the characteristic of the magnitude of this deformation is the torsional rigidity of the nature reserve. Large torsional rigidity means small deformation , On the contrary, the torsional stiffness is small, it means the deformation is large.
